ISLAMABAD, Dec 7, (Gwadar Pro)-China Association of Science and Technology (CAST) has provided ten space maker kits to Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) for the organization of the ‘Teenager Space Maker Camp’ for young Pakistani students.

Later, an MoU signing ceremony between PSF and the Institute of Space Technology (IST) for the promotion of space science and technology was held at the Ministry of Science and Technology on Tuesday.

The MoU was signed by Chairman of PSF, Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig and Vice Chancellor of ISF, Major General (R) Rehan Abdul Baqi, and was witnessed by Federal Minister, Agha Hassan Baloch.

IST received space maker kits from PSF. The space maker camp will be co-hosted by the two. These kits will be used to train students to build space balloons that will eventually travel up to 30 kilometers in space.

While giving his remarks regarding the space maker camp, Federal Minister Agha Hassan Baloch said that this program was the first of its nature and it would bear positive results by uplifting the teenage students’ scientific skills and harnessing their talent in the right direction.

He thanked the China Youth Science Centre for participating in the scientific and technological upbringing of Pakistani Youth. He believed that the Chinese-funded STEM education system, inaugurated earlier in Baluchistan, would promote scientific aptitude in the students.

The federal minister noted that training modules on STEM education were being prepared for grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 with an integrated teaching approach. Teachers of these schools will be trained on STEM modules jointly designed by China and PSF.

He also directed PSF to send scientific caravans to hold scientific exhibitions in the govt schools of backward and remote areas of the country to develop scientific awareness in the students. The minister reiterated his resolve to enhance practical scientific research in the country according to the needs of the 21st century.
