Gwadar Shipyard Project to boost Balochistan’s economy: CM
QUETTA, Nov. 18 (Gwadar Pro) – The government of Balochistan and the federal Ministry of Defence have reached an agreement on Gwadar Shipyard Project, which will boost the province’s economy, said Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Alyani.
“With the initiation of Gwadar Shipyard Project, it will create huge number of employment opportunities for the youth of Balochistan. Economic and financial activities of the province will become better,” CM said in his tweet.
According to the Dawn, CM said that a training programme will also be arranged for the youth, particularly engineers, of the province, at Karachi Shipyard, prior to their appoints at the Gwadar Shipyard Project.
As a component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) mega project, the Gwadar Shipyard Project has been allocated a piece of land measuring 750 acres by the Gwadar Development Authority.
Once completed, it will make Gwadar Shipyard the largest in Pakistan.
The defence ministry has been asked by the Senate Standing Committee on Defence Production to expedite completion of Gwadar Shipyard.
