NGIA to operate South Airline in June
GWADAR, May 6 (Gwadar Pro)- New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) is gearing up to launch the operation of “South Airline” from Gwadar as well as other Makran cities including Turbat and Panjgur on regular basis in the first week of June.
This was revealed during a meeting between Chairman of Gwadar Port, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, with Air Vice Marshal (R) Ijaz Mahmood Malik, Advisor to the Chairman of South Air in Karachi on May 06.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on launching air connectivity from Gwadar to major cities across the country. In the initial phase, these cities will be connected to key urban centers such as Karachi, Quetta, and Islamabad, which is expected to significantly improve travel facilities.
This initiative will not only facilitate passengers but also help transport internationally renowned dates from Panjgur and Turbat, along with Gwadar’s seafood, to major markets across the country. South Air also indicated that it will soon hold detailed meetings with local traders in Turbat and Panjgur in this regard.
According to the Media Coordinator of the Gwadar Port Authority, this development is being regarded as a major milestone in the progress of Gwadar and the Makran region. The meeting emphasized that strengthening both air and sea connectivity is essential to transforming Gwadar into a fully functional international trade and logistics hub.
On the occasion, the tireless efforts and vision of Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch were particularly appreciated for enhancing the performance of the Gwadar Port Authority and promoting Gwadar on the global stage.
Experts believe that improved connectivity between Gwadar Port and the airport could transform the city into an ideal trade and transit hub, where maritime and air transport complement each other—leading to increased business activity, better employment opportunities, and overall economic growth in the region.
