China’s PIESAT signs 2.9 billion yuan deal to boost Pakistan’s satellite capability
BEIJING, Sep 9 (Gwadar Pro) – Chinese satellite company PIESAT has signed a 2.9 billion yuan ($400 million) agreement with Pakistan to help the country develop an independent satellite network, the firm announced after a recent China-Pakistan B2B investment conference in Beijing.
Under the agreement, PIESAT will support Pakistan in establishing a dedicated satellite constellation for real-time communications and remote sensing.
The agreement further strengthens technological cooperation between the two sides. In June last year, PIESAT signed a 200 million yuan agreement with Pakistan to provide smart agriculture technology for a large-scale farm in Bahawalpur.
The company provides satellite operation and application services in disaster migitation and prevention, natural resource supervision and environmental management.
