By Staff Reporter | Gwadar Pro Sep 4, 2025

BEIJING, Sep 4,(Gwadar Pro)-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to ensure that ongoing hospital projects in Islamabad, including the Jinnah Medical Complex, feature infrastructure that is simple, durable, and sustainable. Stressing the importance of global best practices, the prime minister reiterated his vision of establishing a healthcare system in Pakistan modeled on China’s, with the aim of delivering modern, high-quality medical services accessible to all citizens.

During his visit to Beijing’s Anzhen Hospital, a renowned center for cardiac care and medical innovation, Prime Minister Sharif reviewed healthcare facilities and praised the institution’s efficiency, patient care standards, and advanced use of technology. He noted that Chinese hospitals have set global benchmarks through the integration of robotics, smart administration, and a commitment to innovation—elements he believes should guide Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its own healthcare system.

The prime minister emphasized that replicating the Chinese healthcare model, which prioritizes sustainability, technology, and administrative precision, could significantly improve service delivery across Pakistan’s public hospitals. He highlighted that the country continues to face serious challenges, including overcrowding, limited resources, and outdated infrastructure, and said that learning from China’s experience could help overcome these obstacles.

Officials in Beijing briefed the prime minister on the use of robotic systems for advanced medical procedures, streamlined hospital administration, and integrated patient care models. Sharif expressed confidence that such innovations, if adopted in Pakistan, would enhance the country’s ability to respond to emergencies more effectively, reduce waiting times, and improve the overall patient experience.

The prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with federal ministers Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Attaullah Tarar. Their presence underscored the government’s collective commitment to prioritizing healthcare reform as a central pillar of national development.

By aligning Pakistan’s hospital infrastructure and healthcare delivery with Chinese standards, Shehbaz Sharif signaled a strategic shift in public health policy. Analysts view this initiative as part of a broader effort to strengthen Pakistan-China cooperation under their ongoing strategic partnership, with the potential to reshape Pakistan’s healthcare landscape for the long term.
