Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute students visit Gwadar Port
GWADAR, Jul 30 (Gwadar Pro) - Students from Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute visited Gwadar Port, including greenhouse, desalination plant and port area on July 27, hosted by China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pakistan (Pvt.).

In the greenhouse, students learned about seedling raising under artificial conditions such as manipulating temperature, humidity, and light to optimize growth and development. Later, they visited the China-aided Gwadar desalination plant, which just became operational on July 23.

"Currently, the desalination plant is supplying 200 tons of water to the urban area daily, benefiting about 40,000 people in Gwadar," COPHC Pakistan revealed.
"The desalination plant utilizes reverse osmosis (RO) membrane technology, which is widely considered the most mature method for water desalination in the world and known for its high efficiency and low energy consumption. At the initial stage of the project, an environmental impact assessment by the Balochistan Environmental Protection Department and a hydrological assessment by the design team confirmed no adverse effects on the surrounding marine ecosystem," COPHC Pakistan told Gwadar Pro.

According to Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), the designed production capacity of the desalination plant is 5,000 tons per day, which can basically meet the freshwater needs of local residents and be used in certain quantities to boost local industrial development in the future.
It’s also noted that the China-aided Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute has recruited 6 batches of 483 students in total since May 2023, with programs covering computer science, e-commerce, finance and accounting, port operations, and mobile phone repair.
