Dasu Transmission Line Project wins two environmental awards
ISLAMABAD, June 13 (Gwadar Pro)- The Dasu 765kV Transmission Line Project recently earned national recognition for its outstanding environmental contributions, winning two prestigious awards, the Sustainability Leadership Award and the Biodiversity Conservation Award during the Pakistan Environmental Awards & Conference 2025.
The conference, held last week in Islamabad with the theme "Beyond the Plastic Waste," was organized by the Development Communications Network (DEVCOM-Pakistan). It brought together experts, government officials, environmental activists, and media representatives to discuss ways to reduce plastic pollution and encourage more sustainable ways of producing and using resources.
The event emphasized the importance of the 3Rs-Reduce, Reuse, Recycle-and featured the Pakistan Environmental Awards, recognizing impactful contributions to environmental conservation across various sectors.
Constructed by PowerChina, the Dasu 765kV Transmission Line Project is a critical infrastructure initiative designed to transmit electricity from the Dasu Hydropower Plant in the Upper Kohistan region to the capital city, Islamabad. The project involves the construction of a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line spanning approximately 250 kilometers, with major grid stations located in Mansehra and Islamabad West.
Once completed, the transmission line will play a vital role in stabilizing the national grid and enhancing energy security in Pakistan. The recognition of the Dasu Transmission Line Project serves as a testament to how large-scale infrastructure can harmonize with environmental objectives, setting a benchmark for future development initiatives in Pakistan and beyond.
