Previously, there were no specialized healthcare services, and people had to travel hundreds of kilometers to access even basic medical care.

In connection with one-years completion of Gwadar Pak-China Friendship Hospital being run under the management of Gwadar development Authority (GDA) and run by Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN), a grand ceremony was held in attendance with DGA DG Saif Ullah Khaithran and Army GOC Maj Gen Adnan Sarwar Malik in Gwadar.

After completion of one year, it has been possible that now 90 percent patients receive the best medial facilities locally without paying a single penny, GDA DG  Saif Ullah Khaithran told Gwadar Pro. In case of emergency, if required facility of Ambulance service is available 24 hour to shift patients to Karachi, he added.

Currently, 11 clinical services are functional in 100-bed Gwadar Pak-China Friendship hospital including staying operational with teams of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff that have materialized the dream of providing free of cost quality medial aids to poor people of Gwadar and rest of region without any loss of time.

This hospital not only serves Gwadar but the entire Balochistan region, offering advanced healthcare close to home. The medical staff and therapists are provided with ample facilities in this modern building.

The China-aided GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital is a major outcome of both the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor framework and high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries. China’s commerce ministry funded the project which cost an estimated 30.5 million dollars and covers an area of eight acres. From emergency services to specialized medical care, the hospital can cater to a wide range of health needs, treating both common ailments and complex medical conditions.

The comprehensive hospital has a well-defined functional area division and a complete department setup, equipped with advanced facilities such as CT scanners, X-ray machines and medical laboratories. It has also set up a "one-stop service platform" to provide hospitalized patients with free medication and meals.

The hospital has been receiving average around 1300 patients daily since its inauguration. It has treated over more than 60,000 patients in family medicine and general outpatient departments and over 30,000 pediatric patients, handled over 18,000 cases in the emergency department, conducted nearly 16,000 diagnoses and treatments in the obstetrics and gynecology and child health departments, and seen at least 1,260 babies born. Its general surgery and orthopedic departments have treated over 5,000 patients, and the hospital has performed nearly 600 surgeries across various departments. The hospital's advanced medical equipment and high-quality services have also attracted many patients from outside the region. At the end of January, the hospital's transfusion department began operations, further enhancing its medical services. The hospital has addressed the deficit in medical provision in the Gwadar region, with maternal and neonatal mortality rates now declining, and the immunization rate increasing.
