GACC briefs Pakistani associations on export protocols for dairy products

ISLAMABAD, Jan.10(Gwadar Pro) - The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) on Monday organized a one-day training workshop in Lahore for Pakistan’s dairy exporters to educate them about exporting animal products, such as milk and meat, to China.

Mei Haan, representative of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), along with his team addressed the workshop and explained to the audience in detail the requirements and protocols for the inspection and quarantine of dairy products.

They discussed interventions to meet country-specific SPS requirements and elaborated on GB standards, their introduction, specifications for GMP for dairy products, and general hygienic regulations for the production of dairy and meat.

The team also explained the regulations of China on the registration and administration of overseas manufacture of imported food and sanitary conditions of dairy and meat products.

The Chinese experts highlighted food safety standards for dairy products with special reference to camel milk powder, cream, butter, and tea whitener, and HACCP requirements at food processing plants with special reference to the production, processing, and packaging of dairy and meat products.

The dairy associations were briefed on the guidelines for the establishment of compartments and on the establishment of FMD-free Compartments in Punjab. They were given an overview of key SPS requirements for the export of animal products under the WTO's SPS agreement and bilateral provisions also came under discussion.
