Boost for Education: Chinese Embassy Grants Rs. 7 Million to KIU

ISLAMABAD, Aug 31 (Gwadar Pro) - In a significant move to promote educational excellence, the Karakoram International University (KIU), Gilgit-Baltistan, received a financial grant of Rs. 7 million from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China on Wednesday (Aug 30). This contribution aims to bolster scholarships and support various educational initiatives at the university, symbolizing a promising collaboration between the two nations for the enhancement of knowledge and academic progress.
Vice-Chancellor of KIU, Engineer Professor Dr. Attaullah Shah, accepted the Rs. 7 million cheque during his meeting with Ms. Bao Zhang, Counselor of the Political and Media Section, and Zhang Heqing, Cultural Counselor at the Chinese Embassy.
In an official statement from KIU, Ms. Bao praised the university for its pivotal role in strengthening bilateral ties between the two friendly nations.
On June 20, 2023, 130 KIU students were presented with cheques as part of the “China-Pakistan Friendship–Ambassadorial Merit-cum-Need Scholarship” program. Supported by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, this scholarship initiative aims to promote gender balance, ensuring that female students have a minimum 50% quota across both KIU’s main and sub-campuses.
