People’s Bus Service started operation in rural Hyderabad

KARACHI, Aug. 9 (Gwadar Pro)- The Ministry of Transport, Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA), launched the People’s Bus Service (PBS) on Tuesday (August 8) with the aim of expanding its coverage across various areas of the province. This service is now operational on a new route, dedicated to serving the rural Hyderabad region.

People Bus Service started operation on a new route starting from Hatri Bypass to Khisana Mori via Detha Station, Tando Jam. The total length of the new route is 26 kilometers.

In November 2022, PBS initiated its services in Hyderabad, providing the people of Hyderabad with affordable rates in quality and comfortable transport.

Earlier this week, PBS initiated its services on two different routes in Karachi including EV Route 3.   

On July 25, Sindh Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the transport department regarding not increasing the fare of the Peoples Bus Service for the next six months.  SMTA got a Rs 493.356 million subsidy approved by the Cabinet to preserve existing fares for commuters for six months.

Addressing public demand, additional buses were approved to be added to Peoples Bus Service buses with a procurement budget of Rs 2 billion.  SMTA holds the vision to provide a sustainable modern mass transit system accessible to everyone to commute safely, and timely on reasonable fares.
