This step comes in response to the increasing number of students and the nation’s drive to produce highly qualified graduates in GB to prepare them to effectively capitalize on the opportunities stemming from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The region holds a pivotal position as Pakistan’s gateway to China.

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meeting was chaired by Eng. Prof Ahsan Iqbal and joined by Sec Planning Engr. Zafar Ali Shah, Member Science and Tech Engineer Dr Najib Alam along with chief economists. The marathon meeting continued for 7 hours from 4 pm to 11 pm Thursday.

Vice-chancellor, KIU Prof Attaullah Shah and Engr. Shabbir Hussain, Director of Works joined the meeting at KIU. While explaining the justification for the revision of the project, Mr. Shah gave details of the challenges faced in the execution of the project including land disputes, torching of buildings by mobs, litigations, etc.

“Despite all the challenges, we have successfully achieved our targets, and as a result, three engineering and technology programs have been launched, accommodating approximately 250 students,” he told the meeting.
