University of Sargodha celebrates decade of CPEC
ISLAMABAD, June 16 (Gwadar Pro)- A series of events organised by the University of Sargodha to celebrate 10th anniversary of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative concluded on Thursday.
The events held from June 13 to June 15 included essay and quiz competitions, documentary contests and Chinese arts and crafts exhibition, according to the varsity.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Qaisar Abbas distributed cash prizes and certificates among the top position holders in various competitions. He appreciated the active participation of the students in the events aimed at deepening their understanding of China-Pakistan relations.
The VC said on the occasion that the University will launch various projects in collaboration with China including setting up a citrus research institute and a production unit to boost citrus exports. Sargodha is famous for citrus production in the country.
The institute will utilise cutting-edge research techniques and technology to enhance citrus production, quality, and post-harvest practices to position Pakistan as a major player in international citrus trade.
A seminar was held on the opening day of the CPEC 10-year celebrations, which was also attended by Consul General of China in Lahore, Zhao Shiren. He stressed that Pakistan needed to assume complete ownership of this mega project. “By executing the project wisely, Pakistan can maximise the benefits of the CPEC and continue its journey towards economic progress,” he said.
Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasised significance of the CPEC as a substantial leap forward in terms of economic and infrastructure development and improved livelihoods for the people of Pakistan.
