China's holistic GSI has drawn the attention of another Middle Eastern country seeking to resolve its historic discord. In response to an invitation from China, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas visited Beijing. Given China's emphasis on regional peace and diplomatic reconstruction, this meeting holds promise for progress toward sustainable peace in the region.
It's anticipated that the Palestinian leader will advocate for the Arab Peace Initiative, urging China to increase its role in the Palestine-Israel issue.
China has consistently championed global peace and advocated for a resolution to the Palestinian issue. This stance is reflected in China's proposals and its open invitation to negotiators from Palestine and Israel for direct talks in China.
US media has painted Abbas's visit as a manifestation of Beijing's broader diplomatic ambitions in the Middle East and an element of US-China confrontation, exposing a narrow and short-sighted perspective.
Historically, China proposed a four-point plan for resolving the Palestinian issue. Furthermore, China has advocated for the two-state solution through multi-layered means and facilitated mediation efforts in the region. China was also one of the first countries to recognise the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and the State of Palestine, adding significance to qAbbas' visit.
The recent peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran, who have long been entangled in conflict, has created an opportunity for a unified approach towards resolving the Palestine issue. China supports immediate peace talks between Palestine and Israel based on the two-state solution and is willing to actively contribute towards this goal.
Hopefully, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China will continue to work with the international community for a comprehensive, just and enduring solution to the Palestinian issue at an early date.
In summary, the Chinese GSI offers an equitable, sustainable solution. China's diplomatic efforts could potentially illuminate a path to peace and stability in the Middle East.
