CPEC essay contest helps promote real picture of CPEC
Chinese Consul General Lahore Zhao Shiren has said that to keep CPEC narrative right and well, holding essay competitions and similar programmes plays a decisive role in nurturing positive mind-making. He vowed to continue such activities in future with conviviality.
He expressed these views on the conclusion of a 30-day nationwide essay competition held in connection with the completion of CPEC 10 years and its grassroots impacts in collaboration with the Chinese Consulate Lahore and the Institute of International Relations and Media Research (IIRMR).
In a ceremony held at IIRMR office Lahore, the judge announced the top five winners and awarded cash prizes to them. Among the winners Tehniyat Mobeen ul Haq secured first position, Rabia Zahoor second position, Faiza Naz third position, Haris Masood fourth position and Kamran fifth position.
At the end of the ceremony, Chinese Consul General Lahore Zhao Shiren said “My congratulations go to the five winners in recognition of their meritorious written dexterity and mettle, as well as other 275 participants who are from different varsities across the country. Your engagement and thoughtful ideas make the contest meaningful,”
On the occasion, IIRMR Chairman Muhammad Mehdi and President Yasir Habib Khan said that despite headwinds, the completion of CPEC's 10 years radiates a categorical message that CPEC will continue to forge ahead, as its basic essence is to set a tone of progress and prosperity in the lives of the common man. They heaped praise on the written expressions of students, saying that the essays are a manifestation of the fact that the educated youth are not oblivious to CPEC, its dynamics, and its results. Through their essays, youth dispelled an impression, as propagated by doomsayers, that CPEC has nothing to do with the lives of the public.
Lahore Overseas China Association (LOCA) Chairman, Luo Jianxue, also referred to the essay competition as a healthy activity to gain knowledge about CPEC and its impact on the socio-economic lives of the public. He further stated, "This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which has acted as a bridge of friendship between Pakistan and China."
The Essay Competition began on March 01 and concluded on March 30. Participants shared their insights and intellectual perceptions on the subject of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, including its contribution to the public sphere, its role in modern skills enhancement and job creation, as well as the merits and demerits of its impact on the wellbeing of the common man, youth and women's empowerment, and other unexplored areas that may help incentivize growth and development in the new era.
The participants represent approximately 50 educational institutions including colleges and universities across various cities such as Lahore, Karachi and Gilgit.
