Smart Distribution Technology Introduced to Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, Nov 6, (Gwadar Pro)- Alibaba Group introduced the ‘region’s most advanced’ distribution technology in Pakistan, enabling its local e-commerce arm Daraz to move a million parcels a day.
It was disclosed by Daraz, the country’s leading e-commerce marketplace, in an update on Friday.
In partnership with Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, Daraz has launched the country’s first automated smart distribution centres in Karachi and Lahore, it said. These are one of South Asia’s most technologically-advanced logistics facilities and mark Cainiao’s first deeply-integrated distribution centre network in the region, Daraz said.
‘The smart distribution centres will increase Daraz’s sorting capacity by over 4.2 times and decrease manual errors by over 90%, thus benefiting our entire business and improving the customer experience’, Daraz said. Our team has worked tirelessly throughout the year to make this launch possible before 11.11 and facilitate customer orders more smoothly, the company said.
11.11 refers to the annual sale event of Daraz on November 11.
In an earlier post, Ehsan Saya, Managing Director Daraz, said that they feel ‘proud that we brought new tech to Pakistan that the country has never had before, and proud that this inches us closer towards empowering millions of Pakistanis and making eCommerce accessible to them’.
