ISLAMABAD, Oct. 19 (Gwadar Pro) - Several projects of the main economy sectors like energy, transport, Information Technology, Socio-Economic Development, Industrial Cooperation, Science and Technology, Transport Infrastructure and International Cooperation are expected to be discussed in the 11th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) this month.

According to official sources from Ministry for Planning Development and Special Initiatives, several energy projects especially the mining sector will be given importance during the upcoming meeting.

The pre-CPEC JCC meeting was held yesterday to discuss in length about the projects to be taken up in the upcoming JCC meeting. Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal reviewed progress over the next 11th JCC meeting.

It was proposed that the Pak-China Technology Business Forum be formally established during the JCC meeting. The minister also directed the ministries concerned to focus on the long-term plans so projects could be operationalized.

The minister directed the Power Division to expedite the approval process of energy policy for Gilgit Baltistan so that already agreed projects for GB could be pushed forward. The minister also said that Chinese authorities have shown great interest in the mining sector and directed the ministry concerned to make a tangible proposal in this regard.

He further directed that the Development and Production Facility of Solar Panels for domestic use as well as export may be considered for inclusion in the agenda of the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Secretary of Planning Commission, Secretary of Communication, Executive Director of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and representatives from various ministries.

It is noted that the 11th JCC will have significance since the incumbent government has already revived CPEC projects which remained neglected during the past years.
