ISLAMABAD, Oct. 15 (Gwadar Pro) - “BRI’s role of promoting connectivity will lead to interdependence which will ultimately resolve conflicts among countries”, said Hamayoun Khan, Program Advisor at Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Pakistan Office and Founding Member and former Secretary General Pakistan Council on China.

While talking to Gwadar Pro he said that Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is working vigorously for connectivity, both at inter-regional as well as intra-regional level, which bring countries closer to each other. It also has a leading role in achieving prosperity.

“History suggests that connectedness leads to the interdependence that mitigates conflicts. BRI introduced the same spirit and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) being its flagship project intends to bring prosperity in Pakistan and region at large”, he added.

Replying to a question about FES’ role in the implementation of CPEC, Hamayoun conveyed that last year FES in the same spirit collaborated with Parliamentary Committee on CPEC on  a series of events in all provincial capitals of Pakistan to ascertain the issues facing in the implementation of such a gigantic economic project.

“It was year-long initiative and it brought policy makers and politicians to the grassroot level; a comprehensive dialogue was initiated between all stakeholders and policy makers,” he concluded.

Experts believe that the main purpose of BRI is to promote stronger connectivity, to enhance linkages and mutual understanding and to cultivate long-term stability in the participating countries.
