Barrick Gold Corporation is involved in Reko Diq, a copper-gold project in Balochistan. Earlier this year, an agreement was reached in principle between the government of Pakistan, the provincial government of Balochistan, and Barrick Gold Corporation to reconstitute and restart Reko Diq, which has been on hold since 2011. It will be operated by Barrick and owned 50% by Barrick, 25% by the Balochistan Provincial Government, and 25% by Pakistani state-owned enterprises.
Once completed, the Gwadar Free Zone will attract a number of globally leading enterprises and companies including Barrick Corporation, to invest in. Gwadar Free Zone is located at the gateway of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is a flagship project of One Belt One Road. The zone will provide investment opportunities to businessmen, attracting new businesses and foreign investments in general trade, services, manufacturing, logistics, trans-shipment, and bunkering business.
