Sino-Pak collaboration urged in Technical Education

PESHAWAR, Nov. 11 (Gwadar Pro) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment & Trade (KPBOI-T) and Tang International Education Group held a virtual meeting on Wednesday on Sino-Pak collaboration in technical education.

Humayun Khan, Secretary KP Industries chaired the meeting, which focused on strengthening the existing technical education system and mutual collaboration in the field of knowledge and technology transfer from China to Pakistan. He stressed the importance of vocational training due to “the emerging trend of technologies” and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) collaboration.

He said KP Government is taking all necessary measures for the tremendous opportunities that would go a long way in turning around the destinies of the people of the province.

KPBOI-T CEO Hassan Daud Butt highlighted various avenues including artificial intelligence robotics in modern agriculture, value addition in mining and minerals and gemstones. He said that Technical Educational and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) KP and Chinese Vocational Training could explore new venues through collaboration. “This collaboration will also improve language skills of Pakistani human resources, helping them explore job opportunities within the CPEC framework and also abroad where new skills are being discussed,” Hassan Daud Butt added.

Mr. Song and Allan Tang and others were amongst those who represented China’s point of view during the meeting with KPBOI-T.

“In recent years, Tang has been actively promoting education cooperation between China and Pakistan. Pakistan expects Tang’s years of experience to bring China’s advanced vocational and educational system, education technology and superior disciplines into the country to strengthen talent cultivation through modern technology and to promote socio-economic development of Pakistan,” Li Jinsong, CEO and Founder of Tang International was quoted by CEN earlier in May.

In March 2021, TEVTA and Chinese Tang during a meeting had agreed to bring TEVTA KP at par with that of China with the motive to enable the provincial TVETA entity to cater for the skilled workforce demand of the prospective SEZs and EZs under CPEC. Rashakai SEZ is one of the flagship projects of CPEC. RSEZ is a prioritized special economic zone under the CPEC framework with an area of 1000 acres; upon colonization, the zone will provide 200,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities to the locals, according to an official statement.
