CPEC: Pakistan to introduce vertical farming, says Punjab Agriculture Minister
MULTAN, Nov. 1 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan will introduce vertical farming with China’s help under the second phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a Pakistani minister said on Sunday afternoon.
Punjab Provincial Minister for Agriculture Syed Hussain Jehania Gardezi announced that the mega project of CPEC will change the agriculture system in the country.
“Vertical farming would be introduced in the country with cooperation of China under mega project of CPEC,” he told journalists on the occasion of Kissan (farmers) Convention at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture.
The minister stated that government was striving hard to develop new areas for agriculture. “CPEC is helping us a lot in agriculture,” he acknowledged.
About the series of Kissan Conventions in the province, the minister underscored that it was aimed to create awareness among farmers for maximum cultivation of wheat.
About Cotton, Gardezi predicted that the dying cotton crop was on its way to revival due to effective policies of the government.
The minister observed that sugarcane was cultivated in more areas, compared to the areas of the last year. Hopefully, nine million tonnes of sugar production would be achieved during this season, he remarked.
