CPEC opponents will be disappointed: Pakistani Interior Minister

RAWALPINDI, July 21 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Tuesday afternoon that the opponents of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be disappointed as Pakistan and China stand together.

Speaking to journalists in Lal Haveli here at a news conference, he said some elements were against Pakistan-China friendship. “These elements perpetrated actions such as the Dasu (bus blast) incident (in which nine Chinese nationals and three Pakistanis died). The anti-CPEC elements will be disappointed as we (Pakistan and China) stand together,” he said.

Ahmed said negative elements were hatching conspiracies to create misunderstanding between Pakistan and China and create law and in order situation.

“The Dasu incident took place right before the Joint Coordination Committee meeting of CPEC. We will not tolerate this,” he said.

The Interior Minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed police and security agencies to closely monitor the security situation in the country.

The Minister said the government planned to make the diplomatic enclave a special security zone after Eid holidays.
