Pakistan’s highest telecom base station built in Chogori

ISLAMABAD, May 28 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan’s highest telecom base station has been built in Chogori (K2)’s base camp at an altitude of 5,100 meters, which was jointly set up by a Chinese company ZTE and a local operator.

The base station on the roof of the world will fill the signal gap along the K2 route.

Its setting up and operation can enable climbers to access timely transmission of information by providing climbers stable and high-speed telecommunication experience before the peak season of mountain climbing in 2021.

Chogori stands on the border of China and Pakistan. Chogori is about 8,611 meters high and it is the second highest mountain in the world.

It is about 200 kilometers from a mountain village in northern mountainous area of Pakistan to K2 Base Camp.

This 200-route is a great attraction for climbers as its climbing difficulty and risk coefficient is higher and more challenging than that of Mt. Qomolangma (Mount Everest).
