Fully operational Swat motorway, big breakthrough in tourism sector

ISLAMABAD, Sep. 29 (Gwadar Pro) – Swat motorway and Chakdara toll plaza in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province is going to be fully operational from 30th September, 2020. 

 

Swat motorway Toll Plaza is to be fully operational on 30th sep, 2020. 

This new motorway could reduce the travel time between Swat and Islamabad from nearly 5 hours to roughly 2 hours. Since the opening of Swat Motorway and the newly built Kalam road, tourists have thronged the Swat Valley.  

 

The 81km Swat motorway is a four-lane motorway which will be extended further in future. Tunnel No. 1 and 2 of the motorway are open to the traffic.   

 
Tunnel No. 1 and No. 2 are now open to the regular traffic. 

Swat Motorway is the first ever motorway constructed by the Provincial Government of KPK. It is to take full advantage of the rich tourism potential of KPK, including seven districts of Malakand Division. 
The road linkage would also provide means to the new market places in the agricultural sector.

With the completion of motorways under CPEC, the development of backward areas and Western Routes became a reality. Swat Expressway would be the new route for the economic development of the Malakand and Mardan division and it would be the gateway to the western corridor of CPEC.

 

This expressway will prove to be a game-changer for the province, generating not only immediate benefits but will also provide tremendous prospects for the development of transport, communication, and tourism in the province.
