China, Pak sign Rashakai SEZ Development Agreement

ISLAMABAD, Sep. 15 (Gwadar Pro) – Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said the development of Rashakai Special Economic Zone(SEZ) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will help boost the industrialization of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and create job opportunities in the country.
PM Imran Khan made the remarks when addressing the signing ceremony of the Development Agreement of Rashakai Special Economic Zone between China and Pakistan on Monday.
He added the completion of this SEZ will promote ease of doing business in the country and facilitate the local and foreign investors.
With the development of the Rashakai SEZ and others of the kind, Pakistan can attract Chinese industries, and benefit from it, PM said.
The Chinese Chairman of the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of CPEC, Ning Jizhe said via video that he hoped the two sides could conduct high quality construction and at the same time actively attract investment, to build Rashakai SEZ a demonstration project under the CPEC.
According to the Chinese developer China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the signing of the agreement marks Rashakai SEZ will enter the stage of substantive construction and welcome enterprises and investors to invest in.
CRBC said, the leading industries of Rashakai SEZ in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province include the processing of farm produce, automobile, home appliances, textile, consumer electronics, construction materials and logistics.
Enterprises to operate in this SEZ will be entitled to all the favorable policies in accordance with the Special Economic Zones Act 2016.
Rashakai SEZ aims to become a role model for other SEZs under CPEC, trade transfer station as well as base of industrial capacity cooperation between China and Central Asia and Western Asia.
Rashakai SEZ is one of the nine SEZs prioritized under the CPEC framework.
