ISLAMABAD, Jan. 11 (Gwadar Pro) - POWERCHINA and National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) have signed a contract for the project of 765/220kV Mansehra Substation Lot 1.

The agreement aims to transmit clean energy across the country and promote local economic development, according to a statement of POWERCHINA posted on its social media platforms.

As per NTDC documents, the 765 KV transmission line comprises two lots. Lot 1 covers 157 km between Dasu and Mansehra while Lot 2 is the 97.6 km line between Mansehra to Islamabad 97.6 km.

POWERCHINA and NTDC have recently signed a contract for the evacuation of power for Lot 1 which falls between Dasu and Mansehra.

Habib Khattak an official of NTDC while talking to Gwadar Pro termed the project very important. “It will help increase  green energy in Pakistan,” he said.

As per the plan, the 765/220 kV substation Mansehra shall be connected by the six (6) new 765 kV transmission lines with substations including Thakot, substation DASU, and Islamabad West, etc.

As per NTDC official documents, Mansehra Substation Area consists of a low elevation plateau, on which a local airport was earlier planned to be constructed.

The area is relatively flat, but needs some earth works. There are few households in the area for the substation, as it is not densely populated. The main challenge will be the transportation of heavy equipment to the site. Some roads and bridges will be necessary for reinforcing. The road from Islamabad is a highway up to the existing 220 kV substation Mansehra.
