660MW: 11 wind energy projects near completion
ISLAMABAD,Apr.20(Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan is going to complete 11 wind power projects in Sindh with a total capacity of 660MW. According to the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB), the 11 windmills in Sindh would inject electricity of up to 660MW to the national grid.
Out of the 11 projects, the first project of Din Energy Pvt. Limited in Jhimpir is already completed in March 2022, with the capacity to produce 50 MW ($4.7 cents/unit) of clean and green electricity.
According to details, the cost of this project is $65 million. This is the cheapest power project in Pakistan as it will cost $4.7 cents/unit.
The other projects included in the initiative are 50MW Indus Wind Energy Ltd, 50MW Master Green Energy Ltd, 50MW ACT2 Wind Pvt Ltd, 50MW Liberty Wind Power 2 Pvt Ltd, 60MW Metro Wind Power Ltd, 50MW Masda Green Energy Pvt Ltd, and 50MW Gul Ahmed Electric Ltd.
Additionally, 50MW Master Green Energy Ltd, 50MW Tricom Wind Power Pvt Ltd, 50MW Lakeside Energy Pvt Ltd, 50MW Artistic Wind Power Ltd, and 50MW Liberty Wind Power 1 Pvt Ltd are also part of the projects.
Earlier 24 wind power projects were completed in Pakistan with the capacity to produce 1233MW of electricity. After the successful power generation from the previously installed wind power stations, these projects would also add to the clean and green energy supply in Pakistan.
According to media sources, the total capacity to produce electricity from windmills in the country is around 320,000 MW. This alternative energy resources project would help Pakistan reduce its dependence upon hydro and fossil fuel power generation.
The Alternative Energy Development Board's new policy of "Alternative and Renewable Energy 2019" focuses on creating a conducive environment for renewable energy and sustainable growth in Pakistan.
This would further address the country’s economic security, environmental protection, and sustainable energy concerns.
