CPEC is not China-centric; it is open to the world: Khalid Mansoor

KARACHI, March 14 (Gwadar Pro) – “I would like to right this misconception that CPEC is only China-centric. It is not,because even right now there are investors from the USA, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada and Netherlands and of course [there are] a number of SMEs investors. Some have already invested in Allama Iqbal Economic Zone,” said Khalid Mansoor, SAPM on CPEC Affairs, on the CPEC Industrial Cooperation B2B Investment Conference (Sindh Chapter) on Monday.

“CPEC is open to all the investors from all over the world,” he added.

“CPEC phase one focused on early harvest projects and we were able to alleviate power crisis and develop infrastructurein Gwadar Port,” noted Mansoor. Regarding infrastructure, many new motorways, highways and Urban Mass Transit have been completed while the Orange Line in Lahore and 820-km-long Pakistan-China Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) have already been laid, he revealed.

“Now the focus is going to be on environmentally friendly projects and there are a number of hydropower projects in the final stage of completion”, he added.

Khalid Mansoor said that between 2015 and 2030 it is going to be a period of “maturity” which will provide a mechanism for sustainable economic growth, he said.
