Pakistani institute held webinar to celebrate China’s National Day

ISLAMABAD, Oct.2 (Gwadar Pro) - China Study Center, University of Peshawar organized a webinar with the theme of “National Day of People's Republic of China (2021)" on 1 October. Panelists from Pakistan and China congratulated China on the 72nd anniversary of the foundation of PRC and believed that there were many manifestations of Pak-China friendship, hoping that this cooperation would be further strengthened with high spirit.

They also highlighted that China and Pakistan assisted each other in various fields. The advent of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) further strengthened this cooperation.

Chairing the session, Prof Dr. Zahid Anwar, Dean and Director China Study Center said that Pakistan and China are working together for the community with a shared future for mankind. China is a global power and it is playing an important role in regional economic connectivity and this is manifested by BRI and CPEC.

Prof Dr. Muhammad Idrees, Vice-Chancellor, University of Peshawar, stated in his welcome speech that this anniversary is of particular significance as China has made great progress in building a well-off society in an all-round way.

Professor Dr. Safdar Ali Shah, Director General, CPEC, HEC, Islamabad, discussed Pakistan-China relationship in a historical perspective and highlighted cooperation on global, regional, and bilateral levels. "China and Pakistan’s relations are based on mutual trust and benefit. Defense cooperation enabled Pakistan to move towards self-reliance. "

Conveying the thanks of H.E. Nong Rong, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan to the organizers and participants, Ms. Bao Zhang, Political Counsellor, Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, underlined that it is necessary to further promote the understanding between the two peoples. Both China and Pakistan are promoting a win-win approach, justice, and peace.

"CPEC is not a debt trap but a project for the development of Pakistan. It has created 75,000 jobs for Pakistan and in the second phase of CPEC, people will benefit more  from this mega project." Ms. Bao Zhang further emphasized that "under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, China is moving towards development. Pakistan and China approaches are similar and we hope that both countries will work together for the community with a shared future for mankind."

Prof. Dr. M Iqbal Chawla, Punjab University, Prof Dr. Nasir Afghan, Director CSC, IBA Karachi, Prof Dr. Muhammad Khan, IIU, Islamabad, Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, Director CSC, CUI, Muhammad Ahsan Achakzai, Chairman Economics Department, BUITEMS Baluchistan, Syed Ali Gillani, General Secretory KP, CPFA Pakistan also attended the webinar and agreed that CPEC is a big advantage to Pakistan which will bring huge prosperity and would help in people-to-people contact.

They belived that China's soft model policy is successful and it has become a major global player in world relations. There are broad prospects for mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between both countries. They also talked about the tourism opportunity in China and said that there are plentiful ways to improve the happiness of the people.
