US efforts to politicise virus origin doomed
The efforts of the US and its allies to trace the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic are highly politicised and are doomed to fail, according to Mr Muhammad Zamir Assadi, a journalist with the Independent News Pakistan.
Mr Muhammad noted that the US is negating the spirit of science and transparency in virus tracing globally even though the World Health Organisation (WHO) and well-known scientists around the globe have collaborated that the virus did not come from the Wuhan lab.
The reasons for the US-led slandering campaign against China are two-fold, said Mr Muhammad. First and foremost, the US aims to disguise its feeble actions against the deadly virus. As of August 29, the US accounts for nearly one-fourth of the total confirmed cases globally with whopping total death cases of 654,689. Compounding the situation is its stark failure to convince its citizens of vaccine inoculation. The pandemic has well exposed the problematic, faulty governance system of the countries like the US.
The other motive for the US to lead a virus origin tracing campaign to malign China lies in its failure in Afghanistan. Mr Muhammad remarked that the US and its allies have encountered political, economic and military setbacks in Afghanistan, and that such failures have also revealed the weakening capabilities and skills of the American intelligence community as all of their claims about the Afghan Taliban have failed badly.
By diverting the attention of the global community from jointly defeating the virus, the US is just pushing the fight against pandemic in the wrong direction. The so-called leadership by the US in tracing the virus is a clear manipulation of global public opinion and will only prolong and disturb the anti-pandemic cooperation, according to Mr Muhammad in his article appearing in China Daily.
He added, the tracing of the virus origin should be a pure issue of science based on logic and rationality. Renowned scientists from various countries and multiple research reports have also shown confidence on the first phase of virus tracing investigation conducted by the WHO that said that the theories of virus leak from Wuhan lab are fraudulently created of certain elements having ill intensions.
To better combat the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Muhammad suggested that the international community should join hands to snub the US mala fide steps and should come forward to stop the politicisation and mismanagement of virus tracing by US. The revival of the world economy and human civilisation needs cooperation rather than confrontation that is only possible with the all-out support in providing the required assistance to the recipient countries.
The track record of the US since the eruption of COVID-19 lacks the professionalism and objectivity as Washington does not have a single contribution on its credit in the fight against COVID-19. In contrast, China has shown its commitment and passion during the fight against the pandemic that has strengthened multilateralism and international cooperation in building a great wall against the virus.
The message of the international community against the motives of the US intelligence community is very clear that the international cooperation against pandemic should not be politically contaminated and every such effort should be blocked unanimously.
