ISLAMABAD, July 27 (Gwadar pro)- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday afternoon predicted that Pakistan's ports will provide important trade routes under the multi-billion-dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In a meeting with Adviser on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, PM said Pakistan welcomed the strengthening of trade relations with the Central Asian states for the economic prosperity of the entire region.

The PM commended the Ministry of Commerce and the Board of Investment (BoI) for prioritizing enhancing trade relations with Central Asian states for the first time in the country’s history, said an official statement released by the PM’s office.

Welcoming growing trade relations with the Central Asian Republics, he stressed that Pakistan has the potential to provide port access to the region.

During the meeting, Abdul Razak Dawood briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of bilateral cooperation and trade agreements with Uzbekistan and the prospects for positive results from investors.

He updated the Prime Minister on the strategy for the forthcoming visit to other Central Asian states, particularly Tajikistan.

Dawood also gave a briefing on the meeting of BoI held this week and the plan for meetings with various Chambers of Commerce this month.

This month, CPEC Authority chief Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa (retd) announced that CPEC’s Gwadar port was ready and completely functional.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan's interest paved the way for the port to become completely operational.
