Friendship with China unbreakable: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, July 26 (Gwadar Pro) - “The friendship between China and Pakistan is unbreakable,” Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said in a tweet on Sunday afternoon.

His statement came after Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi completed a two-day official visit to China where he held talks with his counterpart Wang Yi.

Chaudhri said the time-tested friendship with China had flourished from strength to strength and remained unaffected amid regional and global environment.

Qureshi and Wang Yi earlier, reaffirmed the resolve to further strengthen Pakistan-China ties.

“Both Pakistan and China remain firm in resolve to further strengthen this All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership,” the Foreign Office spokesperson elaborated.

The Spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) also tweeted about the meeting between the two leaders.

“It proved again that China and Pakistan are the most trustworthy good neighbours, good friends and good brothers to each other,” Chaudhri said.

The FM's visit to China came following the incident near the Dasu project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last week, in which nine Chinese nationals and four Pakistanis lost their lives. A bus carrying Pakistan and Chinese workers to the site of the Dasu project was met with a blast, which caused the vehicle to plunge into a ravine.

The Dasu hydroelectric project is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a US $65 billion investment plan under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) that is aimed at connecting western China to the Gwadar seaport in southern Pakistan.

Before his visit, Foreign Minister Qureshi said that the Pakistan-China friendship spread over seven decades was delivering.

FM Qureshi said Pakistan and China will continue to work together as strong allies and brothers.

The FM said Pakistan was committed to completing the CPEC projects on time.
