Pak response to Covid-19 is impressive: foreign diplomats

National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) Thursday held a briefing session for members of diplomatic corps and international organizations based in Islamabad to highlight Pakistan’s successful anti-COVID 19 efforts.
ISLAMABAD, June 26 (Gwadar Pro) - “Pakistan-measures in response to Covid-19 are very impressive as compared with the other regional countries,” said Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong after a comprehensive briefing given to diplomats on various strands of NCOC’s response to COVID-19.
Ambassadors and diplomats of 20 countries and officials representing International organizations visited National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Diplomats highly appreciated Pakistan’s synergized efforts to mitigate the adverse effects of the pandemic in the country.
They were of the view that Pakistan’s two-pronged strategy to tackle pandemic and keep the economy afloat not only protected masses from the worst fall-outs of covid-19 but also garnered global recognition.
The Chinese ambassador on the occasion said that he was impressed by the response of the Pakistani government, the effective system of NCOC and the strong leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan in handling the pandemic situation.
He emphasized that the Covid-19 pandemic response was quick and timely controlled by all stakeholders including the federal government, local governments and the military.
“Another thing which impressed me is the smart lockdown strategy and the one-window operation that was very helpful in balancing the economy and to prevent the covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
Chairman NCOC and Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar outlined multiple dimensions of Pakistan’s national response.
The forum was apprised about Global and regional comparison of disease vis à vis Pakistan’s efforts to contain the spread of disease.
Statistics on disease outlook, cardinals of National COVID response, capacity building of health care facilities, key IT initiatives and various contours of National vaccination strategy were also highlighted in the briefing.
The foreign officials were also briefed on Pakistan’s efforts in ensuring global connectivity and urged for a corresponding global response in terms of uninterrupted and even supply of vaccines to fight the pandemic.
