LHC Chief Justice says Commercial Courts to be set up for CPEC industrial cases

Multan, May 30: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Qasim Khan has said that Commercial Courts would be set up in the country for settlement of commercial cases as it is imperative after establishment of industrial zones under CPEC.

Addressing a ceremony at District Courts here on Friday night, the CJ said that international companies moved international courts for commercial cases, but after the CPEC, “commercial courts are the need of the hour as industrial zones are emerging now.”

The courts, he said, will be established through ordinance. The LHC Chief Justice said that commercial cases will be disposed of in the country in future.

The CJ said that as son of soil, he had done whatever he could for the region and added that he had visited Multan to respond to the love and affection shown by the legal fraternity of the city.

His statement came as Prime Minister Imran Khan commercially launched the Rashakai SEZ in Nowshera under the CPEC over the weekend.

“This economic zone comes under CPEC. This is a good thing for Pakistan because China has developed rapidly, and we can learn the most from their development,” the PM said at the launching ceremony.

Moreover, he stressed the fact that the industrial revolution within the West was outdated and could not offer any learning opportunity to Pakistan, whereas China’s industrialisation was new.

He said that Pakistan should learn from the SEZs set up by China. He labelled the Rashkai Special Economic Zone a “big opportunity”, stressing on authorities to create ease of doing business for investors. “It is a good omen for Pakistan to learn from a country with the fastest growth”.
