ISLAMABAD, May 28 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan’s Senate unanimously passed ‘The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority Bill 2020’ on Thursday afternoon.
The Bill will now be sent to President Arif Alvi to sign it into a law.
The bill was presented by Minister for Science and Technology Syed Shibli Faraz and had been passed by Pakistan’s National Assembly in February this year.
The bill envisages CPEC Authority to coordinate, evaluate and monitor all CPEC-related activities across the country. In the performance of its functions, the Authority can seek the assistance of any office, authority or agency working under the government or a representative designated by the provinces and territories. The bill grants CPEC Authority a legal immunity, barring any challenges to its decisions in any court of law.
